Museum of Transportation

See and explore old automobiles, historic planes, and trains only at the Museum of Transportation! Visiting the museum will definitely be an exciting and interesting summer adventure for the whole family. The museum is located in St. Louis County, particularly in the Greater St. Louis area. It is founded in 1944 by a group whose enthusiast and interest is in the preservation of history with a diverse collection of vehicles from American olden times. The collection of antique vehicles covers cars, planes, locomotives and railroad equipments and also boats.

Old trains like the last surviving Milwaukee Road class EP-2 Bi-Polar Electric can be found in the museum. The largest tank car ever built, The Whale, is also housed in The Museum of Transportation.  Surely it will bring you back to the past as you slowly marvel the beauty of old beauty and let you imagine the life of the past in this gigantic and remarkable piece of history in the locomotive technology. Also experience the EMc 1800 horspower B-B locomotive and the Chicago and Illinois Midland 2-8-2 who contributed in the history of railroad industry.

You will surely enjoy the miniature train that operates in the museum near the parking space, and in significant events, you might want to have a ride on a full-size trolley which is best served for visitors and families. The Museum of Transportation gives you the opportunity of time travel going back to the past which will actually give you the impression of the olden times in terms of the history of transportation especially of the locomotive industry.

The museum is open from Tuesdays through Saturdays at 9am to 4pm and during Sundays at 11am to 4pm. Admission fee is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 5-12 years old, seniors above 65 years old and to military and teachers with valid ID. Children under 4 years are free of admission.
