Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site is a great place for a family vacation. It commemorates the life, military career and Presidency of Ulysses S. Grant. This 3.95-acre historic site is located 10 miles southwest of downtown St. Louis. Today, the historic site serves as a place where families and friends spend time together while exploring several activities in the site.

The White Haven served as a home for the Grant family. Today, people can visit the Main House and witness a 16-minute introductory film about the White Haven and a 30-minute free interpretative visit. You can wander around the house and trace back history and learn more about the people and property in the 19th century. There is also an interpretative museum located in the historic stable where you can find exhibits and displays including ‘An Intricate Tapestry: The Lives of Ulysses and Julia Grant’. Events are also held in the site including The Civil War Cannon Event.
